#1. Internet is controlled by 7 people in the world!!! >>It’s neither a hoax nor a riddle. It’s a fact. There is an Organisation Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers
(ICANN) which is responsible for:
Assign Numerical IP address –> To Websites and Computers and translate them to –> Normal web Address that people type in their browser
For example, suppose the IP address for site https://www.abc.com/ is XXXXXXX. They map the IP number XXXXXXX to this site name as it is easier for user to remember website name than the numeric value. ICANN maps the numbers (easier for computers to use) with words (easier for humans to use).
If someone gets the access to ICANN database he can easily route people to fake website instead of real website.
#2. China has treatment camps for internet enthusiasts. 200 million Internet users in China are between the ages of 15 and 35. Thus, it’s most like which they lose self-control. Tao Ran, manager of the country ’s first Internet addiction treatment clinic under a military hospital in Beijing said that 40% of those addicted to the Internet suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
#3. The Internet sends around 204 million emails per minute and 70% of all of the e-mails sent are junk (Spam). 2 billion electrons are required to generate just one e-mail.
#4. 30,000 websites are hacked every day. Cyber criminals use highly effective computer software applications to automatically detect exposed websites which can be hacked easily.
#5. There’s a bigger part of the Internet, which is not linked with the common internet we use. It’s called ‘The Deep Web,’ which is at least 500 times larger than the common Internet and the sites in there are completely anonymous and you can surf them anonymously.
#6. The internet took a total of 4 years to reach an audience of 50 million; it took radio 38 years, and television 13 years.
#7. Twenty hours of video from around the world are uploaded to YouTube every minute. The first ever YouTube video was uploaded on April 23rd 2005,by Jawed Karim (one of the founders of the site) and was 18 seconds long, entitled “Me at the zoo”.
#8. According to legend, Amazon became the number one shopping site because in the days before the invention of the search giant Google, Yahoo would list the sites in their directory alphabetically!
